focus – the electronic flight strip system

EFSS

En-route, approach, departure, tower, ground and apron controllers are changing more and more from paper strips to electronic flight strip systems. Therefore it is important to go with a proven and even future proven solution.

focus is based on 20 years of experience with the research, design and development of human machine interfaces for the tasks involved in providing air traffic control.

delair specialists are speaking the same aeronautical "language" as the controllers and, thus, guarantee that focus is not only an IT-system but a controller IT-solution.

Each working position has different operational requirements and the airports have their own individual demands. focus covers all these aspects to assist each controller in the optimal way. Tower and apron controllers have to look out of the window, radar controllers have to concentrate on the radar display. focus assists them to maximise the time for controlling the air traffic.

It is extremely flexible due to the modular design and architecture and can be easily adapted to the various customer requirements.

if-Award

A new Aerodrome Controller HMI of focus developed in cooperation with DFS, delair and the Institute of Ergonomics of the Technical University Darmstadt has been honoured with the iF design award.

focus

  • intuitive HMI and easy transition from paper strips
  • traffic and information on a single display (IFR, VFR, ground
    movements, conflicts, …)
  • versatile coordination and handover functions
  • adapted to the specific needs of each single working position
  • reduces the risk of incidents and accidents by giving warnings
    and context sensitive inputs
  • future proven - supports all functions for arrival/departure/ surface
    manager systems
  • uses information from various systems (docking guidance system,
    stand planning system, …)
  • completely modular and extendable by using all advantages of the
    proven A-CDM platform
  • has been proven in operation for many years
